ACTIVE LEARNING is a method of learning in which the students are participating in the process of learning. This means they are experientially involved in building their own knowledge instead of passively listening to the teacher.
Students must read, write, discuss, and be engaged in solving problems in order to develop the three learning domains - knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSA).
The principles of ACTIVE LEARNING are basically: "Think it through" and "Make and Use associations".

What is ACTIVE LEARNING?

Taking everything into consideration, I am designing an English course which helps students to engage in activities that involve discussions, problem solving, case studies, role plays and projects. They are no longer receiving information passively. On the contrary, they are applying and transferring knowledge.
In terms of learning a language, it helps students to learn faster and develop strategies to perform in a better way.
Lots of people who work with ACTIVE LEARNING are familiar with the idea of a learning pyramid or cone of experience. I used this pyramid to show in a concrete way how the course is being designed. At every lesson you are exposed to all the phases presented in the pyramid. This means that you are speaking English from the beginning!
