EGGCELLENT RECIPES
Easter celebrations must include eggs! They are the most recognised Easter symbols around the world because they mean life and rebirth. In some European countries, children like hunting decorated hard-boiled eggs whereas in the United States or in the UK they eat chocolate eggs.
Another traditional food widely associated with Easter is the lamb. Its roots date back to the sacrificial lamb of the first Passover. Jesus is also referred to as the Lamb of God and lambs symbolize spring and new life.
Bread is also an important item on the Easter table. It represents life and is strongly linked to the Christian faith as a symbol of communion, especially because Jesus served it to his disciples in his last dinner. In Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean, people prepare a soft, spiced roll made with fruit and marked with an icing or dough cross called hot cross bun. They are traditionally eaten on Good Friday to commemorate the crucifixion. They are considered a good gift idea.
